About Us
Community Garden Charitable Fund Inc is a grass-roots organization that was created to raise funds for green spaces such as community gardens, parks and wetland areas. Garden clubs, plant societies, individuals and corporations can contribute resources to this fund.

The parks and gardens that exist today are priceless. They contribute significantly to the quality of life in the communities they serve.

As our green spaces shrink due to development, our public gardens need extra help from the community to ensure that they survive and thrive. Most botanic and historic gardens have a non-profit organization that fulfills this need.

Pinecrest Gardens, (formerly Parrot Jungle), is a community garden located on Red Road at Killian Drive in Pinecrest, Florida. The historical garden at Pinecrest Gardens enncompasses 14 acres. That site, plus an
additional 9 acres adjacent to it, was purchased by The Village of Pinecrest in December 2002 and opened in March 2003. For more information, visit www.pinecrest-fl.gov.

Essential maintenance of this garden was postponed during the years that the owners of Parrot Jungle were moving to Watson Island. When the Village of Pinecrest purchased it, funds were not available to do a much needed major renovation. Then the hurricanes of 2005 tore through the garden.

Pinecrest Gardens is a public garden. There is no admission fee, no volunteer organization, and no membership dues or other opportunities to generate income for the horticultural side of the facility. However, there are events and private celebrations that generate some income for maintenance of the general facility. Therefore, the Garden Fund Board of Directors has chosen Pinecrest Gardens Horticulture
as its primary project. We are an all-volunteer, not-for-profit entity and we use 100% of our proceeds for our projects. There are no administrative costs.
